Make Things Move Automatically with The Conveying Systems

It has been more than a decade when automobile manufacturers first installed a conveying system in their infrastructure to aid assembly line manufacturing in the automotive sector. Soon, the system has revolutionized the whole scenario of transporting various materials with ease and efficiency. Many industries use them for the sake of material handling. Over the decades, they underwent various transitions in their designs and usage, which made them important to industries in the transportation of heavy materials in bulk amount.

What is A Conveying System?

A conveying system is a culmination of mechanical devices like links, wheels, chains, and belts to offer a transporting platform of various materials in bulks. It is a material handling equipment designed to move materials from one place to another in a simple, efficient, and effective manner. The sleek design and simple to use technology make it quite important in packaging industries, as well. Most of the industries use the conveyors for processing a product or carry out the function of transportation. Since its inception, the conveying system has found its usage in different industries in various ways. Creative and brilliant minds are working to create ergonomic conveyors at affordable rates.

Types of Conveyor Systems:

Many industries are using conveyors and most common people have been using them unknowingly. Undoubtedly, conveyors are a part of the lifestyle of a modern human. Based on the application of the system, conveying systems are broadly classified into the following categories.
  • Conveyor sortation systems: These systems are well versed with small orders. The demand for the conveyors is growing, which helps in improving the efficiency of distribution. They also increase the accuracy of shipping along with shipping frequency. They are versatile in nature, which enhances the system to sort various products in terms of their sizes.
  • Accumulation conveyor: These conveyors are installed to ensure that there is no overlapping of products. As the name suggests, the accumulation of products will lead to stopping the conveying systems to activate. It has a zone controller that controls the movement of the pallets.
  • Activated Roller Belt: The most common, yet smart and advanced level of conveyors is the activated roller belt system, which consists of pallets activated manually. The rollers beneath the pallets structured in I-beams carry out the operation. It reduces unnecessary labor costs and lowers the operation costs, as well.
  • Mixed Pallet: Beverage industry use this kind of conveying system capable of handling small as well as large quantities of orders and reduces costs. They can prepare cases of optimum quantity in a much faster way.
  • Overhead conveyors: Overhead conveyors are used to carrying and distributing materials of less quantity over the work areas, which can travel both vertically and horizontally. They are installed in the workplace with much headspace to avoid accidents. They follow a continuous path and are driven either manually or automatically.
  • Pallet: This is the simplest form of the conveying systems used by warehouses to store products in racks and shelves. The pallet conveyors are flexible, assist in operations through efficient handling, and reduce operational costs.
  • Vertical spiral conveyor: Vertical spiral conveyors are designed for manufacturing hubs with a compact workspace. They take a small proportion of the floor space and results in lowered rental costs leading to significant savings in monetary terms.

There are other types of conveyor systems in practical uses, which use modern technology for different industries. These are mainly pneumatic conveyors, which carry materials like fly ash in a pneumatic tube, aeromechanical conveyors, vibrating conveyors, and many more.

The installation cost of the conveying system is on the higher side and maintenance is required for the smooth functioning of the mechanical equipment but in the long-term, they reduce labor costs and operation costs that ultimately result in savings.
